Approximately 3 minutes
Last week, Management announced that Dark Val was officially under construction.
This week, Management would like to report that progress continues.
Not quickly.
Not gracefully.
But undeniably.
The good news is that another box has been opened.
The bad news is that nobody remembers putting that box there in the first place.
Every renovation uncovers something unexpected.
Sometimes it is old wiring.
Sometimes it is questionable wallpaper.
Sometimes it is several hundred articles written over many years that now need to decide whether they belong in a nightclub.
Dark Val is slowly answering that question.
The fiction is beginning to gather in one place.
The music has already unpacked.
The vampires moved in without asking permission.
The ghosts have politely requested better lighting.
Management has informed them that the electricians are still arguing with WordPress.
Several rooms remain unfinished.
Some signs still point toward the building’s previous identity.
The colors continue to negotiate with one another.
The furniture has expressed strong opinions.
The theme appears to believe it is helping.
We appreciate its confidence.
Meanwhile, another song has been hung on the walls.
Music has a way of making unfinished places feel occupied. It reminds everyone that construction does not have to stop life from happening.
Sometimes the concert begins while the painters are still cleaning their brushes.
Dark Val was never intended to arrive fully assembled.
It is growing one room at a time.
One story at a time.
One song at a time.
One wonderfully questionable voice-to-text accident at a time.
Some visitors have asked when the renovation will be finished.
Management has considered this carefully.
The current answer is that Dark Val will probably always be under construction.
Every new story builds another room.
Every new song opens another door.
Every unexpected mistake has the potential to become the next permanent resident.
That seems entirely appropriate.
So if you notice fresh paint, new music, different colors, relocated furniture, or a gargoyle that was not there yesterday, do not be alarmed.
You are simply watching Dark Val become itself.
We will leave the lights on.
The band is warming up.
And if Management can ever find the correct WordPress setting, we will consider that an unexpected bonus.
Until next Wednesday…
Welcome back to Dark Val.
Where the Night Comes Alive.
